An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Research and Innovation Division at The Christie. We are looking to appoint a Senior Clinical Research Nurse to the Experimental Cancer Medicine Team (ECMT) within The Christie NHS Foundation Trust. This is a 12 month maternity leave cover, fixed term post.
This post presents an opportunity to join an established research team with a varied portfolio of clinical trials as a Senior Clinical Research Nurse (sCRN). ECMT are responsible for a varied portfolio of early phase clinical trials.
Responsibilities- Coordinate the patient’s pathway through an agreed portfolio of clinical trials across ECMT.
- Establish excellent communications in all forms for difficult clinical conversations with patients and their families.
- Lead and manage staff; demonstrate experience of line management and leadership.
- Serve as key contact for patients and the wider MDT being considered for early phase clinical trials across multiple disease groups.
- Assess and manage the complex needs of patients participating in a clinical trial.
- Manage staff and drive service improvement.
- Experience in Oncology and Research is essential.
- Experience in leadership and flexibility in working; ability to work independently.
- Background in oncology and research, with leadership experience.
- Interdisciplinary interaction with staff across The Christie and partner networks (e.g., NIHR Manchester Clinical Research Facility).
- Proactive approach to self-development and ability to contribute to team development and training programmes.
The Christie is one of Europe’s leading cancer centres, treating over 60,000 patients a year. We are based in Manchester and serve a population of 3.2 million across Greater Manchester & Cheshire, but as a national specialist around 15% of patients are referred from other parts of the country.
