Position: Join Volunteers on Wheels to help feed thousands

Join Volunteers on Wheels to help feed thousands!

At Volunteers on Wheels we are seeking FLEXIBLE VOLUNTEERS. How you can get involved: DRIVERS:
We are always seeking new drivers to help us run our vital collection and delivery service! As a driver you will play an essential role in our operation by using our vans to collect food/supplies and delivering them to the network of food banks we support. ASSISTANTS:
Our volunteer assistants accompany drivers on collection/delivery routes, helping to collect supplies and load/unload the vans. For our distribution service to run smoothly and reliably it is crucial that we have plenty of assistants available, so we are always looking for new volunteers to lend a hand! Our service operates Monday to Friday and volunteers are needed from 8:30am (starting in Mill Hill NW7) to around lunchtime.

At Volunteers on Wheels our mission is to alleviate food poverty and insecurity. Through our dedicated team of volunteers, we distribute vital supplies to foodbanks, ensuring that they are able to help the thousands of vulnerable people who depend on their service. The valuable logistic service that we provide makes a real difference to people’s lives and currently enables the distribution of more than one million food parcels each year.

There is a huge demand for our essential work and we welcome any and all involvement from those looking to make a difference in their community – if you cannot commit to regular involvement but would like to volunteer on an ad‑hoc basis, please reach out to discuss getting involved in a way which works for you.

What additional skills or experience you should have

To volunteer as a driver you will need a valid licence. We have both manual and automatic vans available.

Assistants must be able to work with a partner to lift and carry boxes/crates ranging from 5–30kg.

What training we will provide for you

Health and safety training is provided for the correct lifting and carrying of the boxes and crates we distribute.

What you will get out of volunteering for us

Become part of a friendly and diverse team of volunteers – volunteering is a great way to connect with people in your community, and we welcome those from all backgrounds and stages in life to come and join in!
