Formulation Scientist

Factra lives at the exciting intersection of manufacturing and e-commerce. Based in Manchester, UK, we are a fast-growing FMCG manufacturer specialising in e-liquids, CBD products, health food supplements, and nicotine pouches — designing, producing, and selling premium consumer products that people love. Operating from our 25,000 sq ft production facility with 500+ unique product lines, we reach customers directly through our own e-commerce channels as well as through wholesale distribution partners around the world.

We are looking for a Formulation Scientist to play a central role in how we bring new products to life. This is a fully on-site position based at our Manchester facility, with your time split equally between the laboratory and the production floor. You'll be involved from the earliest stages of product development right through to commercial manufacturing, giving you end-to-end ownership of the products you create.

The role spans our CBD, health food supplement, and novel nicotine product categories, including nicotine pouches, with scope to expand into exciting new areas as we grow.

Research, develop, and refine formulations across our CBD, health supplement, and nicotine product ranges.

Experiment with new ingredients and active compounds, staying ahead of market trends and emerging opportunities in health, wellness, and functional nutrition.

Ensure all formulations meet the relevant regulatory requirements, including CBD and TPD compliance, maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality throughout.

Take formulations from small-batch development through to full commercial scale-up.

Work hands-on in our production environment, operating machinery and ensuring consistency, efficiency, and quality at every stage.

Maintain accurate batch records and formulation logs to support continuous improvement across our processes.

Manage your own schedule effectively, balancing new product development with the demands of live production.

A background in formulation science, chemistry, food science, or a closely related discipline.

Proven experience in product development, ideally within supplements, CBD, or novel nicotine products.

Hands-on experience in a manufacturing or production environment — you're as comfortable on the production floor as you are developing new formulations.

A forward-thinking mindset with a genuine passion for innovation and an eye for where markets are heading.

Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
