Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and engage others in clinical Quality Improvement initiatives.
  • Identify and achieve performance indicators relating to the post.
  • Work alongside stakeholders to deliver on a range of projects.
  • Retain oversight and responsibility for using the QICA methodology in service development, audit and evaluation.
  • Ensure a coherent, shared and integrated approach between different disciplines and work collaboratively with other services.
  • Be accountable for quality service delivery and the improvement of patient care.
Communication and Relationship Skills
  • Provide and interpret complex information and report on performance management relating to targets and operational activities.
  • Deliver training on complex processes and technologies relating to service development initiatives.
  • Use highly developed negotiation and communication skills to navigate difficult conversations, meetings and operational challenges.
  • Co‑ordinate and communicate across multiple disciplines, services and agencies.
Planning and Organisational
  • Develop, lead and organise the management and meetings associated with quality improvement.
  • Disseminate outcomes of projects locally and within the wider professional communities.
  • Support and engage staff in the undertaking of service development projects and provide professional advice and guidance at a senior level.
  • Manage own workload under the supervision of the Centre Manager and delegate responsibilities for specific tasks to administrators, practitioners and other professionals.
  • Provide visible support to staff, patients and carers for project support requests.
Analytical and Judgemental Skills
  • Establish appropriate methodologies to produce complex data that can be used to affect change and development.
  • Identify relevant information, metrics and performance indicators relating to local and trust quality targets.
  • Develop complex strategies and evaluation processes that facilitate comparisons of a range of options relating to service delivery.
  • Use incidents and root cause analysis to identify trends and translate this into corrective and preventative actions.
  • Identify opportunities for development.
Patient and Client Care
  • Ensure the radiotherapy and SACT services deliver high quality evidence-based care to all patients.
  • Keep up to date with contemporary trends in treatment delivery and patient care.
  • Demonstrate personal and professional skills, including emotional intelligence, adapted to the needs of a diverse range of adult cancer patients.
Policy and Service Development
  • Conform with trust governance in relation to service development and policy writing.
  • Lead and participate in project management and service development and implement outcomes in line with trust policies.
  • Work alongside governance teams to monitor and co‑ordinate the implementation of policies and systems.
  • Advance knowledge and skills in the use of digital systems to create methods of collecting evidence and presenting.
  • Support radiotherapy and SACT leads in the implementation of clinical improvement work and author and contribute protocols, standard operating procedures and clinical guidelines.
Financial and Physical Resources
  • Work with the Centre Manager to identify financial implications of any project during the planning phase and monitor associated budgets.
  • Ensure trust policy is complied with in regard to procurement of resources relating to projects and that costs are justified.
  • Contribute to the development of business cases where required.
Human Resources
  • Support and train radiographers, nurses and clinical support workers in the context of service development projects.
  • Coordinate with the centre manager and service leads regarding availability of staff to support with projects.
Information Resources and Administrative Duties
  • Record personally generated information and ensure a system compliant with best practice in data management and Trust policies.
  • Maintain departmental databases according to radiotherapy and SACT processes and assist in the proposal, development, implementation and training of these processes.
