Deputy Director of Estates Development

Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for the Deputy Director of Estates Development within the Property and Estates Development department.

As Deputy Director you will lead the delivery of the ambitious Estates Development Capital programme across the Trust's ten hospitals and off‑campus properties. You will manage transformational business cases, including large emergency department redevelopments and new diagnostic centres.

Main duties
  • Lead definition, prioritisation and delivery of the Backlog Maintenance programme.
  • Provide strategic oversight of capital investment, estate rationalisation and business case delivery.
  • Programme management across all ten hospitals, including financial, risk, H&S and quality.
  • Manage a multidisciplinary team of internal Senior Capital Projects Managers, Project Managers and external consultants.
Qualifications
  • Chartered membership of a relevant professional body.
  • MSc Degree in Engineering, Building, Surveying, Architecture, Estate or Facilities Management.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development.
  • Relevant Chartered Registration (RIBA/RICS/CIOB).
Knowledge & Experience
  • Senior management experience delivering estates and capital programmes in a healthcare setting.
  • Negotiation of large construction contracts and management of large budgets.
  • Best‑value procurement and stakeholder management.
  • Knowledge of NHS capital investment regulations, design and procurement guidance.
  • Understanding of NHS health & safety, CDM and legal requirements.
  • Experience of PFI contracts and delivery of healthcare estates facilities.
Training & Experience
  • Senior level experience within a multi‑disciplinary construction consultancy office.
  • Preparation of working drawings, specifications, tender documentation and site supervision.
  • Contract management of large construction projects.

Salary

£91,342 to £105,337 a year (pro‑rata)
