Are you looking for a fun and varied job in hospitality? YHA Manchester is looking for a Catering Team Member to join our kitchen team.

As a Catering Team Member you’ll work in our kitchen from 6:30 am to 9:30 pm, preparing and serving food for guests. Your duties will include food prep, service, general kitchen duties and assisting in other hostel departments as needed. You will work 5 days a week with weekend work and an average of 25–30 hours per week, although a minimum of 20 hours is required.

• Ensure adherence to food hygiene standards in storage, preparation, and delivery.
• Uphold health and safety regulations, completing kitchen checks accurately and promptly.
• Prepare, present, and serve high‑quality food with pride.
• Record food wastage following hostel procedures to minimize waste and maximise profit.
• Assist in preparation and serving of food and drinks with genuine warmth and hospitality.

• Experience working face‑to‑face with customers.
• Experience in hospitality or customer service (desirable).
• Food Safety Level 2 Certificate (desirable; otherwise you will complete one in hostel).
• Teamwork experience – ability to help others achieve a common goal.
• Excellent time‑keeping, punctuality and flexibility to cover shifts.
• Ability to manage varying pressures and prioritise tasks during peaks.
• Basic IT skills (Microsoft Office – Word, Outlook, Excel).
• Knowledge of YHA’s core purpose and values.
