• Must possess or be able to undertake and obtain Basic Food Hygiene Certificate within 6 months of appointment to the post.

• Assisting and supporting the Senior Cook in the efficient and effective operation of a quality school catering service to achieve set standards.
• Food preparation and cooking activities including the preparation, and serving of meals and beverages and the organisation of service points.
• Responsibility for monitoring and maintaining portion control.
• Assist the Senior Cook in the marketing of the catering service.
• Deputise for the Senior Cook in his/her absence ensuring that a quality catering service is maintained.
• Assist in the maintenance of a high standard of hygiene, cleanliness and health and safety in the kitchen and associated areas.
• Assist the Senior Cook in the maintenance of the HACCP system and documentation, ensuring that this is maintained in his/hers absence.
• General kitchen and dining room activities.

• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
• Enhanced DBS disclosure will be required.
• Applicant must hold a Certificate of Good Character if lived or worked abroad for 3 months or more in the last 5 years or 12 months or more (whether continuously or in total) in the last 10 years whilst aged 18 or over.
