Greater Manchester Fire & Rescue Service (GMFRS) is among the largest fire and rescue services in the UK, covering approximately 500 square miles and serving a diverse population of 2.7 million across the 10 districts of Greater Manchester. These districts include Bolton, Bury, Manchester, Oldham, Rochdale, Salford, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford, and Wigan. The service operates from 44 locations, including 41 fire stations, a training center, a technical center, and headquarters.

This is a full-time on-site role based in Manchester for a Firefighter. The Firefighter will be responsible for responding to emergency situations including fires, road traffic accidents, rescues, and hazardous material incidents. Key tasks include operating firefighting equipment, ensuring the safety of all individuals at the scene, and providing fire safety education to the community. Additional responsibilities involve regular training, equipment checks, and participating in community engagement activities to support fire prevention efforts.
Qualifications- Ability to work effectively under pressure, problem-solve in challenging situations, and make critical decisions
- Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills to engage with the community and collaborate with team members
- A good level of physical fitness and stamina to perform emergency response tasks and adhere to safety standards
- Commitment to ongoing training
- A valid driver's license and flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays
