Clinical Fellow Clinical Oncology - Breast
This is an exciting opportunity to work as a clinical fellow primarily supporting the delivery and development of breast technical radiotherapy at The Christie.
This post is fixed-term until the end of March 2027 and will be based at The Christie.
The successful applicant will work alongside consultants and trainees in outpatient clinics as well as supervising technical radiotherapy delivery. There is also the option to take part in research under the supervision of the breast or lung oncology teams.
The successful applicant will be joining a Clinical Oncology team comprising 59 consultants and 24 SpRs plus Clinical Fellows. They will provide input to all aspects of the management of patients with breast cancer and radiotherapy. They will also be expected to teach junior medical staff and take part in audit and research.
Main duties of the job- The screening of referrals
- Active participation in the MDT
- Assessment of patients
- Review of patients on pre-treatment and treatment
- Planning breast radiotherapy including technical radiotherapy
- Leading peer review sessions
- Technical radiotherapy development and post-treatment
- Act as a supportive colleague to junior medical staff, medical students, and nurses on occasion

Person Specification- MB BCh or Equivalent; full FRCR (UK), MRCP (UK)
- GMC registration
- Research awareness

- Evidence of enthusiasm and participation in research
- At least three years post full registration in General Medicine. Completed a minimum 3 years Clinical Oncology training
- Understands principles of audit.
- Ability and willingness to work in multidisciplinary teams
- Evidence of participation in audit
- Skills in time/resource management involvement in the education of medical students/junior doctors
- Awareness of development needs and desire to achieve this through evidenced based appraisal.
- Developing Leadership Awareness
- Ambition to become an autonomous practitioner (development/CESR/Specialist)
