Overview

There has never been a more exciting and innovative time to work for our Aseptic services team. An excellent opportunity has become available for a Pharmacy or Science Manufacturing Technician with experience and interest in Aseptic Services to become a member of our team.

Qualifications
  • NVQ3 / BTEC in Pharmacy Services and registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) as a Pharmacy Technician
  • Aseptic Pharmaceutical Science Manufacturing Technician level 3 and registration with the Science Council as a Science Technician
  • Experience or interest in Aseptic Services
  • High motivation, attention to detail, organisational skills and excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Responsibilities
  • Participate in and supervise the aseptic production of Clinical trials, SACT, EAMS, FOC and Gene therapy injectable medicines in a dedicated cleanroom with five negative pressure isolators
  • Support the Education and Training Lead – Aseptic Services in initial and re‑validation training of the team
  • Manage day‑to‑day running of the unlicensed production unit, including staff, stock, HR duties and Quality Assurance
  • Supervise and manage technical staff, including HR duties such as performance appraisals
  • Organise safe and efficient production of aseptically prepared products
  • Deliver full training to production staff on GMP activities, ensuring proficient and safe working within an Aseptic Services Unit
  • Coordinate operator validations and competency checks
  • Co‑ordinate workflow and workforce to provide a safe, efficient and effective service
  • Revise Standard Operating Procedures and implement new or revised procedures
  • Manage cost‑effective use of consumables and sanitisation products within the aseptic facility
  • Take part in internal and external audits and support investigations related to production events
  • Communicate information effectively to all aseptic staff, customers, MDTs and other pharmacy staff in a timely manner
  • Serve as a professional role model, developing positive relationships with key personnel internally and externally
  • Report and liaise on environmental monitoring findings, perform accuracy checks, and ensure completion of all logs and records
  • Assist in planning and organising workload schedules, ensuring adequate trained staff and adherence to capacity plans
  • Ensure compliance with legal requirements, including COSHH regulations and Good Manufacturing Practice
  • Participate in the Aseptic On‑Call preparation service for chemotherapy outside normal working hours on a rotational basis
  • Participate in a Saturday/Sunday and Bank Holiday rota when required
  • Record and manage inventory, procurement, stock control and safe storage of medicines and consumables
  • Maintain the quality and safety of aluminium drug products, ensuring accurate stocking and waste minimisation
  • Support the recruitment, appraisal and professional development of Band 4 technicians, aseptic practitioners and assistants
  • Collaborate with the team to improve working practices, procedures and documentation, and implement remedial actions following audits
  • Deputise for the Highly Specialised Technician during absences and handle initial complaints and incident reports
  • Keep updated with current pharmaceutical practice and attend approved meetings, courses, or conferences for professional development
