Ward Manager - Ward ANU

The closing date is 29 January 2026.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Senior Nurse with strong leadership skills and relevant experience to join our team of Ward Managers within the Neurosciences Directorate.

Ward ANU is a 23-bedded Acute Neurological Unit, with additional 3 single rooms for video telemetry seizure monitoring. We have recently opened a 4-trolley Neurological Ambulatory Care Unit (NACU), operating as a 9am-5pm day case unit. ANU forms part of the Greater Manchester Neurosciences Centre at Salford Royal.

This is a unique and exciting opportunity to join a team with vision, drive, and ambition. We are looking for a highly motivated nurse who shares our values and is committed to delivering high-quality care. You should have extensive post-registration experience, and ideally, previous nursing management experience. Experience in Neurosciences is desirable but not essential.

A passion for delivering excellent patient and family care, alongside a commitment to continuous improvement, is essential. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are key, as is the ability to demonstrate effective leadership throughout the recruitment process.

You must be able to motivate staff to achieve high standards and work collaboratively to ensure the organisation's goals are met.

Main duties of the job

You will need to ensure that as well as providing clinical leadership, and taking responsibility for direct staff management and the running of the ward, you have the ability to meet deadlines and the skills and desire to manage care within budget.

You should also be politically aware, be able to create vision for the team, and influence change in the clinical area. In addition, the patients' needs will always be at the centre of any focus that you have.

You will also be expected to provide evidence of how your leadership skills have positively affected team dynamics and improved clinical standards within your current role.

Duties include:

  • Establish and maintain effective communication with individuals and groups about difficult or complex matters overcoming any problems in communication
  • Develop knowledge and practice in an area of work
  • Promote best practice in health, safety and security
  • Contribute to the development of services
  • Promote people's equality, diversity and rights
  • Assess people's health and wellbeing needs when those needs are complex and change across the caseload
  • Plan, deliver and evaluate programmes to address patient's complex and changing health and wellbeing needs
  • Lead work teams in the development of knowledge, ideas and work practice
  • Allocate, coordinate, monitor and assess the work of teams and individuals
  • Maintain and support the efficient use of physical and /or financial resources
