Health Care Assistant - Acute Medicine

We require enthusiastic and highly-motivated Health Care Assistant to join our friendly, supportive and innovative team striving to deliver the highest standards of care every day to our patients on our Acute Medical ward. Working within a team of highly skilled and motivated staff where patient focus is our priority. We strive to make patient, family and carer experience as good as possible.

You will join our friendly and supportive acute medical and nursing team who are committed to providing and maintaining high standards of patient care, specializing in Acute Medicine nursing. Ward L7 specialises in acute medical nursing specifically diabetes and endocrine. The Unit has 24 beds compromising of 3 teams overseen by a dedicated duty coordinator/Sister and a supervisory Ward Manager.

The job is both exciting and challenging, where team work is essential and initiative is paramount. Excellent communication, confidence and compassion are essential.

You will have experience of working in an acute hospital environment as well as an NVQ 3 in healthcare or equivalent.

Qualifications
  • NVQ Level 3 in Healthcare or a Level 3 Senior Healthcare Support Worker Apprenticeship - or equivalent experience
  • Level 1 Literacy and Numeracy (GCSE English and Maths Grade D-G)
  • Care Certificate
Knowledge, Training & Experience
  • Experience of working as a Care Support Worker or equivalent in a Health or Social care setting
  • Experience of working within a team
  • Demonstrates an interest or previous experience in supporting other health care staff and learners
  • Commitment to undertaking continuous professional development (CPD)
Skills & Abilities
  • Good communication (written and verbal skills)
  • Basic IT skills
  • Good organisational skills
  • Driving skills needed for community posts
