A Programme Director is required to deliver a whole system approach to improving health and care outcomes for the population of Greater Manchester.

GM Diagnostic Network works collaboratively with the ICB, GM provider trusts in secondary care, primary care networks, public health, regional and national teams, and with a wide variety of stakeholders including NHS provider and locality staff and teams, voluntary sector and patients; to improve system-wide outcomes for the Greater Manchester and East Cheshire population and influencing national policy.

The postholder will provide a significant contribution to the delivery of the GM Diagnostic Network strategy, aims and objectives by leading and delivering complex transformational programmes and projects that span multiple GM organisations, supporting improvements, recovery, and transformation through the GM-wide Diagnostic Network Boards/Clinical Reference Groups at a system level across Greater Manchester.

The postholder will work in partnership with regional and national stakeholders, internal teams, and partner organisations to ensure their programme of work is delivered within agreed timescales.

The postholder will be expected to act independently, taking timely and challenging decisions and managing the complexities of system-wide working, to ensure delivery to improve outcomes, managing and reporting of risks/issues and sharing of successes with internal NHS and external stakeholders.

The postholder will be directly line managing a team of staff including programme and project managers The post holder will working collaboratively with regional and national stakeholders to lead transformation programmes across the GM system to support the delivery of national and local diagnostic strategies.

They will leading the GM-wide multi-disciplinary diagnostic network Boards’ programmes of work and project/programme managers and co-ordinate and contribute to the GM Diagnostic Network system-wide programmes of work, including developing and managing programme and project plans, reporting progress, and undertaking risk and issue management to ensure effective and timely delivery of the NHSE directives and the GM Diagnostic delivery plan.

We are looking for an autonomous individual with experience in one of the specialties within the remit of the Diagnostic Network who will drive transformation, liaising with key stakeholders across the system to improve experience and outcomes for patients and families in Greater Manchester and East Cheshire.

The Christie is one of Europe’s leading cancer centres, treating over 60,000 patients a year.

We are based in Manchester and serve a population of 3.2 million across Greater Manchester & Cheshire, but as a national specialist around 15% patients are referred to us from other parts of the country.

We provide radiotherapy through one of the largest radiotherapy departments in the world; chemotherapy on site and through 14 other hospitals; highly specialist surgery for complex and rare cancer; and a wide range of support and diagnostic services.
