Research Associate (Gowen Autism study)

Project Overview

Provide evidence for the need and acceptability of routine sensory & motor assessments for autistic adults without learning disabilities, identify and map intervention pathways, and support the development of a toolkit to guide assessment and intervention.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor participant recruitment.
  • Communicate with occupational therapists, the research team and participants.
  • Collate assessment reports and questionnaires into spreadsheets.
  • Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis (e.g., framework analysis) on the data.
  • Work with the Chief Investigator to develop, run and contribute to workshops and surveys.
  • Help design the toolkit and support dissemination of study findings through publications, presentations, public involvement and clinical material.
  • Assist with recruitment and follow‑up visits in phase 1 and support data collection for feasibility and acceptability.
  • Help develop the toolkit guidance on appropriate sensory & motor assessments and intervention options in phase 2.
Desirable Skills & Experience
  • Experience working with autistic adults and/or conducting research with autistic adults.
  • Experience co‑producing research with autistic people.
  • Experience in sensory‑motor research.
  • Knowledge of the brain and cognitive underpinnings of sensory and motor difficulties in the autistic population.
