Overview
Join our team of volunteers to visit clients in their own homes in the Jewish community across Greater Manchester. We are looking for volunteers who can donate an hour or two a week, or an hour or so a month. You can make a difference to the lives of those who are lonely and isolated through chatting, playing games, going for a walk, reminiscing, and simply being together.
Befriending takes many forms, and we will help you find the perfect role based on what you want to support (children, young people, people living with mental health challenges, those with temporary setbacks, older people, carers, people living with physical illness, residents in care homes, etc.).
- Visit clients in their homes within the Greater Manchester area to provide companionship and support.
- Engage in activities such as talking, playing games, walking, reminiscence, and simply spending time together.
- Be flexible to fit the needs and preferences of the people you support, with roles offered across different age groups and needs.
Morning, Afternoon, and Evening slots may be available; flexible location and/or times can be accommodated where required.
About The FedThe Fed is the leading social care charity in Greater Manchester for Jewish people of all ages and from all backgrounds. Since 1867 we have focused on being a professional organisation offering excellent support services in a warm and caring atmosphere.
Our aim is to improve the quality of life for people in need, including lonely and isolated individuals, carers, children at risk or with special needs, the bereaved, people with mental health problems or physical disabilities, people in financial crisis, people in hospital or care homes, and people living with dementia. We operate alongside Heathlands, our care home and community hub, and rely on a dedicated team of volunteers who underpin much of our work.
