Our client, based in Suffolk, is seeking to appoint an experienced Senior Environmental Health Officer (EHO) to support their Private Rented Sector (PRS) and Housing Standards functions. The role sits within the Private Sector Housing team and plays an important part in delivering the council's wider Homes and Housing Strategy, ensuring residents have access to safe and suitable housing. Key duties will include carrying out HHSRS assessments, managing HMO licensing, investigating illegal evictions, and enforcing Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards (MEES).
The successful candidate will have at least five years' experience working within Private Sector Housing or a similar field. Applicants must hold HHSRS certification, and EHRB registration would be considered a desirable attribute. The ideal officer will have strong investigative and enforcement experience, along with the ability to work independently while supporting wider team objectives.
Our client would prefer a full-time officer, although part-time applications will be considered for the right candidate. Hybrid working is available for full-time staff, with a requirement to attend the office at least one day per week for meetings and team collaboration. For part-time officers, office attendance can be negotiated. Pay rates start from £45 per hour (Umbrella) depending on experience.
