Position: FIRST Intern (Employ.ed on campus)

Grade UE03: £24,729 - £25,804 per annum pro-rata if part‑time FIRST / Finance Business Partnering Team Full‑time: 35 hours per week Fixed‑term: for 12 weeks

The Opportunity:

FIRST and FBP team are seeking two enthusiastic interns to join us for the summer months.

This is an exceptional opportunity for University of Edinburgh students who are looking to gain hands‑on experience in busy finance teams during the most critical time of the year.

We are looking for enthusiastic candidates who:
  • are keen to learn about financial processes and interested in pursuing a career in accounting and finance;
  • possess good Excel skills and a comfort with numerical data; and
  • have excellent communication and relationship‑building skills, as they will be interacting with colleagues across the University;

As an intern, you will play an active role in supporting our teams through the year‑end and month‑end processes, supporting the preparation of the annual financial statements and directly supporting business areas with their day‑to‑day financial needs.

The role will involve collaboration with Finance colleagues at various levels across the University.

Employ.ed on Campus is run by the Careers Service in collaboration with University departments and Schools. It offers exclusive summer internships at the University over the summer for 2nd year to penultimate year undergraduate students from the University of Edinburgh based in the UK. You cannot take part if you are a visiting student, or you have already taken part in the programme before.

Your skills and attributes for success:
  • be a current 2nd, 3rd or penultimate year University of Edinburgh undergraduate student;
  • have a keen interest and knowledge of accountancy and financial reporting;
  • be able to plan, prioritise, take initiative and find proactive solutions, work unsupervised and multitask effectively;
  • have experience in using Microsoft Excel;
  • possess strong attention to detail;
