We're now looking for a Finance Assistant - AP to work alongside the Finance team in our Manchester HQ.
Role overview and responsibilities- Invoice processing
:
Accurately input high volumes of supplier invoices into the accounting system, ensuring all details are correct and coded to the appropriate accounts. - Payment management
:
Prepare and process payments - Reconciliation
:
Regularly reconcile supplier accounts to ensure balances match, following up on any discrepancies or missing invoices. - Monthly bank reconciliations
:
Be responsible for reconciling the banking ledgers for month end. - Reporting
:
Assist in preparing reports for month‑end and year‑end close, including aged creditor analysis and accruals for unpaid invoices. - Compliance
:
Ensure adherence to internal controls, company policies, and regulatory requirements while identifying areas for process improvements
- Educational background
:
While specific qualifications are not always required, GCSEs in Mathematics and English are often preferred. Relevant experience in accounts payable or bookkeeping is advantageous. - Technical skills
:
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage 200) and strong skills in Microsoft Excel. - Attention to detail
: A high level of accuracy when dealing with numerical data and financial records is crucial. - Organisational skills
:
Ability to manage a busy workload independently and prioritise tasks effectively. - Interpersonal skills
