In-House Vat Accountant

In House VAT Accountant - Salford - Competitive Salary + Bonus (Hybrid - 2 days in the office / 3 Home)

Our client is a large and growing business based in Salford, and they are looking to appoint their first VAT Accountant. The role will be varied and will be responsible for:

• Taking ownership of European VAT returns, working closely with outsourced service providers to ensure accurate and timely submissions.
• Managing VAT payments and reclaims, overseeing Intrastat reporting, and leading the setup of new VAT registrations as the business expands across Europe.
• Supporting audits, maintaining robust balance sheet reconciliations, and monitoring other local taxes such as plastics and green taxes.
• Working with internal teams including Sales, Finance, and IT, as well as external stakeholders, to ensure smooth processes and continuous improvement.
• Acting as the subject matter expert for VAT, providing guidance on regulatory requirements and supporting ad hoc projects that enhance our compliance and reporting capabilities.

This will be a pivotal role in the finance team so they are looking for someone who can build and maintain internal relationships whilst ensuring all VAT returns are filed on time. Working with a talented team you will also be a team player and this will be an exciting role for someone to be able to make the role their own.
