Mechanical Estimator (M&E – FM / Projects)

Salary: Up to £55,000 + £6,000 Car Allowance

An established M&E contractor is expanding its Mechanical Services division and is looking to appoint a Mechanical Estimator to support increasing tender demand within its Facilities Maintenance and project teams.

This role has been created to strengthen estimating capability within the business. While there is exposure to project delivery on larger schemes if desired, the position is firmly estimator-led and not a full-time project management role
.

• Preparing mechanical estimates and quotations from enquiry through to submission

• Supporting tender activity across FM and project works ranging from small works to larger projects (up to circa £3m)

• Producing take-offs from drawings, specifications and site surveys

• Using estimating software including SimPRO (smaller works) and Amtech (larger projects)

• Liaising with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations

• Supporting value engineering and commercial reviews where required

• Working closely with an existing FM Project Management team to prioritise and deliver tender output

• Providing clear handovers from estimating to delivery teams

• Opportunity to support or manage larger projects where appropriate and aligned with experience

• Smaller works are typically delivered by existing PMs

• No requirement to operate as a full-time Project Manager

• Facilities Maintenance-led division

• Project work across:

• Commercial

• Rail

• Specialist mechanical installations

• Very limited regeneration work currently

• Predominantly regional delivery with some nationwide projects

• Wide project value range offering strong variety

• Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator

• Strong mechanical building services background (FM and/or commercial)

• Comfortable pricing works from small reactive jobs through to larger projects

• Commercially aware with a detail-focused approach

• Confident liaising with clients, suppliers and internal teams

Mechanical Engineers or Mechanical Project Managers with strong estimating experience are also encouraged to apply.

• Unvented Hot Water Storage Systems

• Gas qualifications (Domestic and/or Commercial) beneficial

• CSCS Card

• Good knowledge of current H&S and environmental legislation

• IT-literate (Word, Excel, Outlook and estimating software)

• Salary up to £55,000 (slight flexibility for exceptional candidates)
