Overview
AECOM is seeking a Principal Town Planner to work on infrastructure planning projects across the UK with a focus on DCO projects. The role supports projects in energy/renewables, transport, defence, water and more. Base location can be flexible with hybrid working; offices include Manchester among others.
Responsibilities- Lead and assist in the delivery of major development applications.
- Coordinate multi-disciplinary teams across various project types.
- Submit and manage planning applications, liaising and negotiating with local planning authorities and key stakeholders.
- Provide planning advice on consent requirements and permitted development rights.
- Produce planning feasibility reports and consent strategies.
- Write Planning Statements and Design and Access Statements for development applications.
- Contribute to business development in market sectors; identify opportunities and build client relationships.
- Lead and contribute to successful commercial tenders.
- Collaborate with Environmental Impact Assessment teams and participate in stakeholder meetings.
- Oversee project management, ensuring quality and adherence to health and safety principles.
- Degree in Town Planning or related discipline.
- Membership of RTPI or equivalent.
- Significant experience leading planning applications for large infrastructure projects across various regimes.
- Excellent written communication skills; ability to write clearly and concisely.
- Client focus with strong interpersonal and collaboration skills; existing relationships with clients and local authorities preferred.
- Experience with business development and working with tenders.
- Ability to work independently and under pressure.
