The Role

As a Senior Platform Engineer you will lead in building, maintaining and governing technology solutions that enable colleagues around the club to make better footballing decisions using data.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own the design, provisioning, and ongoing management of the football data cloud estate
  • Lead cloud infrastructure and network architecture in Azure, ensuring solutions are secure, scalable, cost‑effective
  • Manage authentication and authorisation of our football data platform, including identity, access patterns and governance using Microsoft Entra
  • Define and champion best practices for CI/CD and deployment automation across the business
  • Proactively identify platform risks, bottlenecks, and opportunities for improvement, driving continuous evolution of the cloud estate
  • Produce high‑quality documentation and architectural guidance to enable self‑service and consistency across engineering teams
The Person
  • Deep, hands‑on experience designing and operating production cloud platforms in Azure
  • Strong abilities with Infrastructure as Code tools, preferably Terraform
  • Demonstrable examples of owning cloud estate provisioning, governance, and lifecycle management
  • Expertise in identity and access management
  • A solid understanding of containerisation and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience with Databricks and modern cloud‑based data platforms
  • Advanced proficiency in CI/CD, Git‑based workflows, and deployment automation
  • A commitment to best practices in monitoring, e.g. with Grafana, Elastic stack, Datadog.
  • A drive for continuous improvement in your work and that of others
Desirable (but not essential)
  • Experience with relational databases, e.g. PostgreSQL
  • Scripting abilities with Python and Bash
