Cellcycle is a specialist lithium-ion battery recycling company supporting the circular economy through the safe handling, repair, and end-of-life processing of high-voltage battery systems from:

• Electric Vehicles (EV)
• Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)

Our work involves high-energy HV battery systems, often in live operational environments, requiring experienced engineers with strong safety awareness and on-site capability.

We are seeking an experienced High Voltage Battery Engineer with hands-on experience of EV and BESS battery systems.

This is a practical, site-based engineering role focused on high-voltage lithium-ion battery diagnosis, repair, and safe handling.

• Diagnose, repair, dismantle, and rework lithium-ion battery packs used in EVs and BESS units
• Carry out safe isolation, discharge on EV and BESS HV systems (typically 400V–1000V+ DC)
• Identify faults at cell, module, pack, and BMS level within containerised and cabinet-based BESS systems
• Attend customer, partner, and operational sites to support EV and BESS unit assessment, remediation, and decommissioning
• Act as the HV technical authority on site, ensuring correct procedures and RAMS are followed
• Support commissioning, controlled shutdown, and dismantling of containerised and modular BESS systems

• Write, review, and implement RAMS for all HV EV and BESS activities
• Ensure compliance with HV legislation, IEC / BS EN standards, and ISO 45001
• Lead toolbox talks and enforce safe systems of work around high-energy DC systems

• Produce detailed technical reports, repair records, and battery condition assessments
• Maintain accurate documentation for EV and BESS HV assets
• Support improvements to safe handling, repair, and dismantling procedures for EV and BESS batteries
• Provide technical input to enhance tooling, processes, and training related to HV battery systems

• Minimum 3 years’ hands‑on experience working with high‑voltage lithium‑ion battery systems
• Direct experience with EV battery packs and/or Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
• Proven ability to repair, diagnose, or dismantle HV battery systems
• Experience working under formal HV safety rules and permit‑to‑work systems

• Demonstrable experience writing and implementing RAMS for HV electrical or battery work
• Strong understanding of risk management for high‑energy DC systems

• Previous site‑based or field engineering experience in EV, BESS, ESS.
• Confident working in operational, safety‑critical environments

• Strong understanding of:
• Lithium‑ion battery architecture (cell / module / pack)
• Battery Management Systems (BMS)
• HV isolation, testing, and fault‑finding
• Containerised and cabinet‑based BESS architectures
• Familiarity with IEC, BS EN, and ISO 45001
• Experience with BESS units
• HV Authorised Person (AP) or equivalent
• Experience in recycling, or end‑of‑life processing of EV or BESS batteries
