We offer design services and power systems analysis across sectors including distribution and transmission networks, grid substation design, and renewable energy projects such as grid-connected PV and battery energy storage systems. We also support our Critical Systems team, focusing on hyper-scale data centres, and our Building Services teams on other significant construction projects throughout the business.

The Role You'll Play
The Role You'll PlayWe are looking for a Power Systems student to join our team in Manchester for a Summer Placement in 2026.
Your role will involve designing medium and high voltage power systems and utilising industry-recognised power systems analysis software. Joining our vastly experienced technical experts, you will have ample opportunities to grow your knowledge, contribute to the success of our team, and progress your career.
You will be involved in assisting with various tasks such as:
- Producing engineering designs, calculations, and specifications using appropriate technical software.
- Utilise power systems software to model complex networks and run advanced power system studies.
- Prepare technical reports in accordance with clients' briefs.
- Undertake the production of calculations, specifications, drawings, and reports.
- Attend and participate in client and project meetings.
- Undertake site visits to monitor the progress of works and address any issues.
- Correspond with external parties regarding information and technical queries.
- Comply with project management, operational, environmental, and health and safety procedures.
Individuals who are interested in the Summer Placement opportunities will need to be:
- Working towards a degree in Power Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Preferably undertaking your penultimate year of study
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with clients and colleagues.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to overcome challenges with initiative.
- Passion for power systems design, learning, and development.
