Senior Project Manager - Civil Engineering

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to join one of our key clients, to lead the delivery of critical airfield infrastructure projects at Manchester Airport. This contract role will involve overseeing construction projects valued at around £300 million over five years. Successful candidates will demonstrate a robust background in civil engineering and experience in safety‑critical environments such as rail, airports, or highways.

• Manage the end‑to‑end delivery of airfield construction projects, including planning, design coordination, procurement, and execution.
• Engage with internal teams, contractors, and regulatory bodies to ensure smooth project delivery and minimal operational disruption.
• Administer NEC contracts effectively, ensuring compliance and proactive risk management.
• Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and reporting mechanisms.
• Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards, and compliance with airside regulations.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams and manage contractor performance to achieve project objectives.

• Proven experience delivering complex construction projects in a live operational environment.
• Strong knowledge and practical experience with NEC contract management.
• Ability to obtain and maintain an airside pass (including background checks and security clearance).
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Strong leadership and decision‑making capabilities under operational constraints.

• Previous experience working on airport infrastructure projects.
• Background with main contractor delivery or managing Tier 1 contractors.
• Professional qualifications (e.g., APM, PRINCE2, or equivalent).
• Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline.
