Process and Chemical Engineering Industry Placement 2026
Apply for a 12‑month placement at the Environment Agency, starting September 2026. Gain hands‑on experience in regulating process industries such as chemicals, refineries and metals, and build skills that can lead to a rewarding career.
Key Responsibilities- Work with Regulated Industry teams to support UK businesses in reducing environmental impacts and improving process safety.
- Analyse data and assess environmental compliance, including permit applications and incident reports.
- Contribute to carbon reduction initiatives and the development of environmental standards.
- Engage in partnership working, public engagement and technical project delivery.
- Rotate through Permitting, Local Operations and Environment & Business areas.
- Studying or recently graduated in a Chemical or Process Engineering degree accredited by IChemE.
- Strong team‑working, confidence with data, problem‑solving, engineering knowledge and health & safety awareness.
- Curiosity, flexibility and determination to make a positive impact on people and wildlife.
- Eligibility: UK, Commonwealth or EEA national with right to work in the UK; enrolled in an undergraduate or integrated master’s program, penultimate year or graduated within the last year (from June 2025).
