This role can be based in LUC's Manchester, Sheffield, Bristol, or London office.
Responsibilities- Advising clients on the feasibility of projects.
- Providing and seeking pre‑application advice.
- Preparing, submitting, and negotiating on planning applications.
- Responding to development proposals and plans.
- Providing EIA screening advice and coordinating specialist reviews of Environmental Statements for LPAs.
- Supporting and preparing fee proposals and tender submissions.
- Experienced Development Planner with project management skills.
- Development management experience in public and private sectors, including feasibility studies and local authority interaction.
- Ability to manage smaller projects and act as project manager on larger programmes.
- Clear communication of complex planning issues and concise planning arguments.
- Understanding of sustainability and wider environmental issues.
- Degree level (graduate or post‑graduate) in Planning or a related field.
- Chartered membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) or working towards it.
- Experience in key sectors, ideally renewable energy and supporting infrastructure.
- Experience on projects of a variety of scales.
- Knowledge of planning systems in England, Wales, and Scotland, including large infrastructure projects (DCO/NSIP in England; DNS in Wales).
- Knowledge of Environmental Impact Assessment processes.
- Experience in planning policy or other strategic planning work.
Salary: £39,000 - £47,400 FTE, dependent on experience (plus London allowance of £4,000 if applicable).
Full‑time role based on 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday). LUC practices flexible working; part‑time options (minimum 30 hours per week) are available.
Hybrid model: minimum two days per week in the office; travel required to sites, client offices, and other LUC locations.
