Senior Mechanical Engineer

Mott Mac Donald Bentley, a joint venture between Mott Mac Donald and J N Bentley, is a fully integrated design and build business that delivers award‑winning projects in the UK water market.

With an annual turnover of over £500 million and a partnership with United Utilities on the new AMP8 framework, our projects include the largest spill‑reduction programme in the UK. We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to contribute to significant infrastructure projects that improve water and wastewater treatment.

• Lead the mechanical design of water and wastewater infrastructure from outline through detailed design, construction, commissioning and handover, including P&IDs, valve schedules, pump calculations, pipework layouts and safe access arrangements.
• Coordinate with the project team (Electrical, Civil, Geotechnical and Process designers) to ensure designs are delivered on programme, within budget and meet framework specifications.
• Work closely with commercial, operational and construction teams to develop efficient, practical and safe solutions at all stages.
• Engage positively with clients, managing relationships and adopting a one‑team approach to support their objectives.
• Support the mechanical engineering team through coaching and mentoring, developing skill sets and allocating resources.

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Chartered or incorporated member of ICE, IMechE or equivalent experience.
• Excellent communication skills with team members and stakeholders.
• Methodical problem‑solving approach.
• Valid driving licence and willingness to travel across the operational region.
