Clean Water Process Engineer – Principal to Associate Director

Join WSP’s Water Engineering teams in Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, London, Newcastle or Glasgow as an experienced Clean Water Process Engineer.

• Produce process design deliverables such as optioneering studies, process calculations, mass balance, process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation drawings, sketches, basis of design reports.
• Undertake outline or detailed process engineering design.
• Attend site visits for data acquisition and meeting site operators.
• Provide technical input to procurement process.
• Support Project Managers in technical discussions with clients.
• Liaise with technology providers and vendors.
• Attend HAZOP, HAZID, ENVID, SWIFT.
• Provide technical guidance, coaching and supervision of junior staff.
• Collaborate with other disciplines on multi-disciplinary projects, ensuring integration of process engineering requirements.
• Contribute to proposals, work scope, schedules and budgets.
• Maintain liaison with clients to ensure their needs are met.

• A Chemical or Environmental Engineering degree or MSc.
• Professional registration as CEng (or working towards chartership within 12 months).

• Significant experience delivering process engineering design on infrastructure projects, including leading the process engineering role.
• Experience in the municipal water industry.
• Ability to work unsupervised in preparing/reviewing process design package deliverables.
• Experience in optioneering studies and feasibility, concept or detail design for municipal clean water treatment solutions including clarification, DAF, rapid gravity filtration, disinfection, taste & odour/pesticides removal and chemical dosing.
• Experience as a Process Engineer in a consultancy, engineering company or relevant industry.
• Exceptional time management, managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Proven ability to produce high quality written technical reports and deliver verbal presentations.
• Strong communication skills, able to engage senior colleagues, clients and sub-contractors.
• Experience leading multi-disciplinary meetings and acting as the technical representative with external clients.
• Accurate and flexible integration with other disciplines, managing own team to tight programme and budget constraints.
• Travel to operational works and construction sites as required.
