Senior / Principal Mechanical Engineer – Building Services Consultancy

We are working exclusively with a respected multi‑disciplinary consultancy to appoint a Senior / Principal Mechanical Engineer to their South Manchester or city centre office. This role offers an excellent balance between hands‑on mechanical design and client‑facing responsibilities. You’ll take ownership of project delivery, building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, architects, and design teams, while ensuring high‑quality design output across a range of building services projects.

• Act as a client‑facing engineer, developing briefs, attending meetings, and providing technical guidance
• Produce, review, and coordinate detailed design work, ensuring integration with other disciplines
• Mentor and support junior engineers, promoting technical excellence and professional growth
• Contribute to proposals, bids, and wider business development activity where needed
• Ensure compliance with current regulations, standards, and sustainable design practices
• Manage resources, timelines, and budgets to ensure successful project delivery

• Degree‑qualified in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent)
• Chartered or working toward CEng status with CIBSE or IMechE
• 7–10 years’ experience within a UK building services consultancy
• Strong technical design background with experience delivering projects across multiple sectors
• Excellent communication skills, confident in a client‑facing capacity
• Ability to coordinate and lead project delivery within multi‑disciplinary teams
