Overview
Examination Invigilators will support the smooth and secure running of examinations by preparing venues and ensuring all procedures are followed accurately. This includes setting up examination rooms by laying out stationery, equipment, and exam papers according to strict guidelines, as well as assisting with packing and transporting materials before and after exams. Invigilators help create a safe, fair, and organised environment for candidates in line with Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) regulations.
Attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure are essential to ensure that all processes are carried out correctly and that exam conditions remain consistent for every candidate.
- Supervise candidates to ensure rules are followed and maintain a quiet environment while preventing communication between candidates.
- Direct candidates to their seats and advise them on permitted items.
- Support unregistered candidates who may not have an allocated seat.
- Monitor attendance, record late arrivals or early departures, and escort candidates when necessary.
- Respond promptly to any issues or irregularities.
- At the end of the examination, collect and collate scripts, assist with preparing script envelopes, and ensure candidates leave the venue quietly and in an orderly manner without removing unauthorised materials.
- Remain vigilant yet unobtrusive, show empathy towards candidates, and report any suspected malpractice to the Examinations Officer.
