Leader Education are seeking a committed SEND Teacher with the ability to take on SENCO responsibilities to work within a small specialist school in Trafford. This role focuses on supporting pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), complex medical needs and associated behavioural challenges, helping them engage with learning in a safe, nurturing and highly supportive environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced teacher who is confident supporting complex SEND and who is capable of contributing to the strategic development of SEND provision within the school. The successful candidate will combine high-quality classroom teaching with SENCO responsibilities, supporting staff to meet the complex needs of pupils across the setting.
As a SEND Teacher with SENCO responsibilities, you will deliver personalised learning experiences while supporting pupils to develop communication, independence and emotional regulation. You will also work closely with senior leaders and external professionals to ensure that pupils receive the appropriate support and interventions.
Key Responsibilities:• Plan and deliver highly differentiated lessons tailored to pupils with PMLD and complex learning needs.
• Support pupils who may experience significant barriers to learning due to complex medical needs, communication difficulties or behavioural challenges.
• Contribute to the coordination and development of SEND provision across the school.
• Support staff with strategies, resources and guidance to meet pupils complex needs effectively.
• Liaise with external professionals, therapists and families to support pupil development and wellbeing.
• Implement behaviour support strategies that promote positive engagement, emotional regulation and wellbeing.
• Work closely with Teaching Assistants, therapists and pastoral staff to support both learning and care needs.
• Monitor, track and review pupil progress, ensuring provision is appropriately adapted.
• QTS, PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification.
• Experience supporting pupils with SEND, particularly PMLD, complex needs or behavioural challenges.
• Experience with, or willingness to undertake, SENCO responsibilities.
• Strong classroom and behaviour management skills within a specialist or supportive setting.
• Patient, nurturing and adaptable approach to teaching.
• Ability to support and guide colleagues in meeting the needs of pupils with SEND.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
• SEND or specialist schools
