Position Title: Chemistry Teacher

Contract Type: Full-time (1.0 FTE - Temporary to begin with)
OverviewWe are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Chemistry Teacher to join our Science department. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality teaching across BTEC Applied Science Level 3 and Access to Science/Health pathways. This role is ideal for an educator with strong subject expertise and a passion for supporting learners progressing into science- and health-related careers.
Key Responsibilities- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and effective lessons in Chemistry in line with BTEC and Access programme requirements.
- Assess, track, and record learner progress in accordance with awarding body standards.
- Develop learning materials and resources that support diverse learner needs.
- Provide academic guidance, feedback, and pastoral support to students.
- Contribute to internal quality assurance processes, including assignment design and standardisation.
- Participate in department meetings, staff development activities, and wider college initiatives.
- Maintain a safe, inclusive, and motivating learning environment.
- A Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Chemistry or a closely related discipline.
- A recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, Cert Ed, DTLLS, QTS, QTLS).
- Experience teaching chemistry or applied science in further education or a similar setting.
- Strong understanding of BTEC or Access programme requirements (or willingness to upskill quickly).
- Experience teaching Access to Science or Access to Health learners.
- Familiarity with internal verification, assessment processes, and Ofsted expectations.
- Ability to develop innovative learning materials and support learners with varied academic backgrounds.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- A learner-centred approach with a commitment to supporting student success.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and contribute to curriculum development.
- Adaptability, professionalism, and a positive attitude toward continuous improvement
