Overview

We are currently recruiting a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist primary school in Salford (M30). This is a long‑term opportunity starting ASAP, supporting children with a range of complex needs in a nurturing and well‑resourced setting.

The Role

Supporting pupils with a variety of Special Educational Needs, including:

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)
  • Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD)
  • Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD)

Support may be delivered 1:1 or in small groups, both in the classroom and during structured activities, with a strong focus on communication, engagement, and emotional wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supporting pupils with learning, communication and sensory needs
  • Assisting with personalised learning programmes linked to EHCP targets
  • Providing personal care where required (training provided if needed)
  • Supporting behaviour regulation using positive and consistent strategies
  • Working closely with teachers, therapists and SEN professionals
  • Creating a safe, inclusive and encouraging learning environment
The Ideal Candidate
  • Experience supporting children with ASD and/or complex SEN (PMLD, SLD, MLD)
  • Calm, patient and resilient approach
  • Confident following care plans, behaviour plans and EHCPs
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
