This specialist SEMH school in Salford supports pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs including challenging behaviour, trauma and adverse childhood experiences, ADHD, anxiety, attachment difficulties and emotional regulation needs. They’re looking for a confident, compassionate Behaviour Support Assistant who can bring consistency, energy and emotional intelligence to the classroom—every single day.
WhatYou’ll Be Doing
- Providing 1:1 and small-group behaviour support across the school day
- Helping pupils to manage emotions, regulate behaviour and stay engaged in learning
- Using de-escalation, restorative and trauma-informed strategies to support challenging moments
- Supporting teachers with behaviour management plans and risk assessments
- Maintaining clear boundaries and routines that create safety and structure
- Tracking behaviour, incidents and progress, sharing insights with the wider team
- Supporting pupils during transitions, break times and unstructured periods
- Acting as a positive role model, building respect, trust and confidence
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH, behaviour needs, SEN, youth work or care backgrounds
- A calm, resilient and confident approach to challenging behaviour
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build meaningful relationships quickly
- Understanding of safeguarding, boundaries and professional conduct
- Willingness to follow behaviour support and intervention plans consistently
- An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
- Team Teach/PRICE or similar training is desirable—but not essential
