SEN Teaching Assistant - Autism Provision - Salford M6
Full‑time | Long‑term | Start: ASAP
We are currently recruiting a compassionate and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN school in Salford M6. This is a full‑time, long‑term opportunity supporting pupils who all have EHCPs, within a classroom setting for children with Autism (ASD). The school offers a highly structured, autism‑friendly environment with a strong focus on sensory integration, emotional regulation and personalised learning.
Pupils are supported to engage with learning in a way that meets their individual sensory and communication needs.
- Supporting pupils with Autism within a specialist SEN classroom.
- Working closely with the class teacher to deliver structured, personalised learning.
- Implementing EHCP targets and individual support plans.
- Supporting communication, social interaction and emotional regulation.
- Using sensory integration strategies, including sensory breaks, movement activities and calming techniques.
- Using visual supports, routines and autism‑specific approaches.
- Providing academic, emotional and pastoral support throughout the school day.
- Experience supporting children with Autism / ASD in an SEN setting.
- Understanding of EHCPs and individualised support.
- Knowledge or experience of sensory integration approaches (desirable).
- Patient, nurturing and consistent in approach.
- Confident working as part of a multidisciplinary SEN team.
- DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply).
- Supportive SEN leadership and experienced support staff.
- Small class sizes with high staff‑to‑pupil ratios.
- Well‑resourced sensory spaces and structured classrooms.
- Ongoing SEN and autism‑specific training.
- Long‑term stability with potential for a permanent role.

This role is subject to an Enhanced DBS (child and adult workforce), satisfactory references, and full compliance with KCSIE (2024) guidance and safer recruitment standards.
