SEN Teaching Assistant - Autism Provision - Salford M6

Full‑time | Long‑term | Start: ASAP

We are currently recruiting a compassionate and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEN school in Salford M6. This is a full‑time, long‑term opportunity supporting pupils who all have EHCPs, within a classroom setting for children with Autism (ASD). The school offers a highly structured, autism‑friendly environment with a strong focus on sensory integration, emotional regulation and personalised learning.

Pupils are supported to engage with learning in a way that meets their individual sensory and communication needs.

Role
  • Supporting pupils with Autism within a specialist SEN classroom.
  • Working closely with the class teacher to deliver structured, personalised learning.
  • Implementing EHCP targets and individual support plans.
  • Supporting communication, social interaction and emotional regulation.
  • Using sensory integration strategies, including sensory breaks, movement activities and calming techniques.
  • Using visual supports, routines and autism‑specific approaches.
  • Providing academic, emotional and pastoral support throughout the school day.
Ideal Candidate
  • Experience supporting children with Autism / ASD in an SEN setting.
  • Understanding of EHCPs and individualised support.
  • Knowledge or experience of sensory integration approaches (desirable).
  • Patient, nurturing and consistent in approach.
  • Confident working as part of a multidisciplinary SEN team.
  • DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply).
