Start: ASAP

A specialist SEN high school in Sale is seeking an experienced and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to provide part-time support within the Humanities department. This role involves working with secondary-aged students with ASC, SEMH and a range of learning difficulties, helping them to access the curriculum and remain engaged in lessons.

This is an excellent opportunity for an SEN TA who enjoys subject-based classroom support and building positive, trusting relationships with young people.

About the Role

You will be supporting students across KS3 and KS4 during Humanities lessons (such as History, Geography and RE), working on a 1:1 and small-group basis. The focus of the role is to support learning, emotional regulation and behaviour for learning within a structured secondary setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide in-class support to students with autism, SEMH and learning difficulties within the Humanities department.
  • Adapt learning materials and tasks to meet individual needs and learning styles.
  • Support students with focus, engagement and emotional regulation during lessons.
  • Use positive behaviour strategies and de-escalation techniques where required.
  • Encourage independence, confidence and participation in classroom activities.
  • Work closely with subject teachers, SEN staff and pastoral teams to follow EHCPs and individual support plans.
The Ideal Candidate
  • Experience supporting students with ASC, SEMH and/or learning difficulties, ideally within a secondary or SEN school setting.
  • Calm, patient and resilient, with a consistent and student-centred approach.
  • Confident supporting learning in a classroom-based, subject-led environment.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • Available to work 2 days per week and has the right to work in the UK.
Desirable (but not essential)
  • Experience working in a secondary SEN setting
  • Team-Teach, MAPA or other behaviour management training
  • Level 2 or Level 3 Supporting Teaching & Learning qualification

This is a rewarding part-time opportunity within a supportive SEN high school for someone passionate about inclusion and helping young people succeed in a secondary curriculum. If you're available to start ASAP and are looking for a meaningful role in education, we'd love to hear from you.
