We have a great opportunity available to join Novus, our prison education provider at HMP Manchester, working as a Functional Skills Maths or English Teacher. This position is offered on a permanent, full-time basis, working 37hrs per week.

HMP Manchester is a Category A and B men’s prison in Manchester, England. Established in 1868 and designed by Alfred Waterhouse, it is known for its iconic ventilation tower and long-standing role as a high-security facility. HMP Manchester serves as a local prison for remanded prisoners awaiting trial and sentencing, as well as those serving long-term sentences and is committed to rehabilitation, offering educational programs, vocational training, and support services aimed at reducing reoffending.

Skills, Qualifications and ExperienceTo be successful in this role, you will need to:
- Demonstrate competence teaching Maths or English up to Level 2
- Achieve performance and quality targets
- Produce accurate and timely reporting
- Demonstrate positive team working
- Have experience of conducting assessments and supporting learning of individuals and groups
- Have experience of working with groups of learners with a range of abilities.
- Have experience of successful working in an effective multi-disciplinary team
- Have experience creating stimulating, vibrant environments which are conducive to learning and motivational for learners
- A good track record achieving of quality targets
- Hold a teaching qualification and, where applicable, a relevant subject specialist qualification - with a commitment to obtain the outstanding qualification within 12 months
- Hold at least a Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy
