Learning Support Assistant (LSA) - Specialist SEMH School

Are you passionate about providing dedicated support to pupils with Special Educational Needs? Do you want a rewarding role helping young people overcome barriers to learning?

We are seeking a proactive, empathetic, and resilient Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our staff at a specialist SEN school, focusing on supporting pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
.

This crucial role involves working closely with classroom teachers to ensure all pupils have the support, guidance, and encouragement they need to thrive in a specialist setting.

The Role

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will:

  • Provide in-class support to individual pupils or small groups, helping them to access the curriculum and complete learning tasks.

  • Assist the class teacher with the preparation of resources and the organisation of the classroom environment.

  • Support the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and specific intervention strategies.

  • Be skilled in promoting positive behaviour and supporting pupils with their emotional regulation and social skills development.

  • Supervise pupils during non-contact time, such as lunch and break times, ensuring a safe and engaging environment.

  • Report on pupil progress and contribute to review meetings, maintaining effective communication with the teaching team.

  • Assist with personal care where necessary (training provided).

Your primary requirements to get cleared for this role:

  • An Enhanced child DBS on the update service or willingness to get a new one.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK. (Essential)
  • Previous experience in Schools preferred.
  • 2 relevant professional references
  • Adapt to the needs of the students in a professional and courteous manner.
  • A minimum of six months of experience working in a classroom setting is required
