OverviewWe are seeking a full-time Study Skills Lecturer to work closely with subject lecturers in delivering study skills across the curriculum for our partner HE programmes. You will design bespoke courses, provide targeted support, and collaborate across the university network to enhance student learning.
Responsibilities- Design and document bespoke study‑skills courses, digital resources, workshop plans, and individual schemes of work.
- Deliver teaching, evaluate impact, and identify opportunities to improve the quality of learning and overall student experience in line with our Learning and Teaching strategy.
- Provide feedback on academic writing and other relevant study skills at the individual and group level.
- Offer tutorial consultations, give constructive comments, explain assessment criteria, and suggest work‑practice improvements.
- Record appointment details for statistical, evaluation and quality purposes, and refer students to additional services as appropriate.
- Engage with VLE and research resources to facilitate student learning through online activities.
- Contribute to GBS quality assurance systems and processes.
- Master’s degree in a relevant subject area (PhD desirable).
- Previous UK HE lecturing experience in the relevant subject area.
- Proven track record of teaching adult learners from diverse backgrounds across HE programmes.
- Experience providing individual and group study‑skills support.
- A willingness to lead a specific area of literacy development (e.g., reading, writing, critical thinking, numeracy, digital skills, research skills).
- High level of digital literacy and advanced communication skills.
- Expertise in digital educational resource development, course design, and curriculum development.
- DELTA qualification.
- A Postgraduate Certificate of Academic Practice or equivalent teaching qualification, or a commitment to enrol on a teaching programme within the probationary period.
- HEA fellowship or international equivalent.
- 25 days of annual leave plus 8 public holidays.
