Overview
This is an exciting opportunity to work in a substantive post split across Lung and Sarcoma medical oncology services. The role is for 10 PAs with an equal split across Lung and Sarcoma. The successful applicant will work at The Christie NHS FT main site as well as the Wythenshawe Hospital. The post-holder will join two busy medical teams delivering high quality patient care for the region.
Responsibilities- Lung: delivering two clinics per week, attending weekly lung meeting, and playing an active part in the fortnightly lung MDT.
- Sarcoma: delivering two clinics per week and attending the GMOSS (Greater Manchester & Ostwestry Sarcoma Service) MDT.
- There is a 1:3 rotation for sarcoma ward rounds at The Christie and a weekly ward round for acute oncology at Wythenshawe.
- The post-holder will be a core member of the Lung and Sarcoma teams with the opportunity to develop a special interest to suit their own interests and the needs of the services.

Cancer research in Manchester, most of which is undertaken on the Christie site, has been officially ranked the best in the UK.

Job Plan TimetableThe timetable below is indicative and will be confirmed on commencement in post. It is the requirement of the Trust that all new consultant colleagues must have 0.25 SPAs within their job plan to support Trust appraisal and supervision requirements. This can either be as appraiser or a supervisor for medical staff or Advanced Clinical Practitioners (ACP).
Timetable (illustrative) Monday to Friday with AM and PM sessions including Admin, OP clinics, Lung/Sarcoma clinics, MDTs, ward rounds and GMOSS involvement. The exact allocation will be confirmed on appointment. NB:
This timetable is indicative.
Job Plan PA Summary
- Direct Clinical Care (DCC): 7.5 PAs

Attainments
Essential- MRCP or equivalent qualification
- Entry on the General Medical Council (GMC) specialist register via one of the following: a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) (the proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview) or Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration
- Evidence of productive ethical research relevant to oncology
- An appropriate higher degree
- Recent publications in peer-reviewed journals
