Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust – Consultant Shoulder and Elbow Trauma and Orthopaedics Surgeon

Applications are invited for the post of Consultant in Trauma and Orthopaedics at Manchester Royal Infirmary (with special interest in shoulder and elbow surgery).

The post holder will be part of a dynamic and innovative team of surgeons.

The successful candidate should be fellowship trained and have completed CCST along with full GMC registration and a license to practice in the UK is required.

Candidates must be eligible for their own GMC registration: an active license, ceased license or pending application with the GMC at the point of application. Candidates who do not fit this criteria will not progress through to the shortlisting stage.

Main duties of the job

Applications are sought from candidates who will help deliver a high quality Orthopaedic and Trauma service. The post aims to provide support to the provision of orthopaedic trauma services. The postholder will be expected to provide the following clinical services:

  • A comprehensive Shoulder and Elbow service.
  • Elective:
    Arthroplasty/ arthroscopy
  • Trauma:
    General list and specialist upper limb trauma.
  • Providing Major Trauma work
  • Cover for the management of complex periarticular and periprosthetic, fragility and pathological fractures of the upper limb
  • Support as required for trauma services across MFT including out of hours and weekends
  • On Call based at MRI Major Trauma Centre with trauma sessions at NMGH and elective sessions at TESH and an expectation to work flexibly across MFT.
