Job Overview

This is a 12‑month fixed‑term post based in the Cardiology Directorate at Wythenshawe Hospital, part of the Manchester Heart Institute. The role combines working alongside and supporting Consultant Cardiologists within Cath Labs, Critical Care and ward settings. It is suitable for individuals who wish to complete a period of higher training in Heart Failure and develop practical, research and management skills before applying for a consultant post.

• Work alongside and support Consultant Cardiologists within Cath Labs, Critical Care and ward settings.
• Make a significant contribution to the middle‑grade on‑call rota.
• Operate within the Heart Failure service and troubleshoot outpatients commensurate with the post holder’s experience.
• Commit to at least one regular clinic per week.
• Update and maintain clinical data in the HF database and audit the same data.
• Contribute to the department’s research and audit programme and quality improvement programmes.
• Support the department’s educational programme.

Wythenshawe Hospital provides tertiary cardiac services to the South Manchester and North Cheshire area and is supported by on‑site cardiothoracic surgery and an active cardiac transplant unit. The Cardiology department has five cardiac catheter laboratories.
