PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £37,000 – £42,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OFTHE ROLE
We’re looking for a creative and enthusiastic comms pro to join our high performing, fast paced team. The BBC has the most loved children’s content in the world and is home the UK’s most trusted educational brand, and we’re passionate about how engage audiences and stakeholders with our mission to inform, educate and entertain.
As a Publicist you’ll play a key role in developing and executing publicity campaigns that drive audiences to our world-class children’s content and build awareness of our education support that changes lives by improving results.

In this role you will...
- Provide a range of internal and external stakeholders with an authoritative source of advice on all aspects of press and publicity, being the frontline counsel with commissioners and other senior stakeholders.
- Create impactful 360- degree communications campaigns for strategically significant programmes, channels and brands that deliver positive earned coverage across digital, social and traditional platforms.
- Take full responsibility for the management of the campaigns, including issues management only referring up to provide information or when the issue is felt to have impact on the wider BBC.
- Develop integrated campaigns with colleagues across social, marketing, internal comms and public affairs to maximise impact and reach.
- Drive talkability and relevance with your campaigns devising innovative ways to engage audiences including events and screenings, social media content and write engaging and impactful copy.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
- Proven track record in delivering effective publicity campaigns with strong understanding of the media landscape and news‑gathering process.
- Excellent news sense with the ability to write clear, engaging and impactful press copy.
- Creative thinker with a willingness to try new ideas and approaches.
- Strong computer skills and ability to quickly adapt to new IT systems.
- Proactive attitude with a commitment to supporting the strategic aims of the division.
DESIRED BUT NOT
REQUIRED:
- You will have a demonstrable passion for children’s media on the BBC and across other broadcasters and streamers.
- Knowledge of the issues facing the children’s media industry.
