PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £28,100 - £38,100 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF

THE ROLE

As the BBC’s formal learning website, Bitesize helps millions of students to progress their education. Assistant Producers are a key part of the teams delivering content. You will work closely with Bitesize Producers and Researchers, and with teams across the wider Children’s & Education department and Nations, to deliver online, interactive, multi‑media, educational resources for 4‑16 year-olds.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT
  • You will have a key role in the delivery of curriculum projects:
    • Primary English
    • Primary Editorial Improvements
  • You will commission high‑quality digital content such as audio, video, copy and visuals from indies.
  • You will translate curriculum learning outcomes into a content delivery plan.
  • You will use your practical experience of digital and/or interactive production and development to manage complex projects to schedule and budget.
  • You will apply sound editorial judgement.
  • You will support other members of the team to deliver excellent work.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
  • Digital content making skills: Practical experience of interactive production and development; delivering digital content projects that include interdependent elements, such as text, video, podcasts, interactives and infographics.
  • Editorial skills: Experience of creating digital content which meets tightly defined criteria or curriculum outcomes and of working accurately with written content. Excellent editorial judgement and experience of applying editorial guidelines to a variety of content formats, including text, video, podcasts, interactives or interactives.
  • Project management: Knowledge of project management methodologies and experience of planning and delivering interactive projects with multiple elements, to budget. Experience of breaking down projects into tasks and overseeing the delivery of those tasks (including monitoring quality) by other members of the team
  • Working with suppliers: Experience commissioning writers or illustrators and of working with independent producers to deliver video, podcasts or interactive content.
  • Audience focus: Understanding of the 5‑16 audience, their diversity and their media habits. Proven experience of using audience insight to inform digital content making, including the ability to run user testing sessions or focus groups.
