Project Manager, Civil Engineering

Summary

Responsible for the planning, preparation and daily management of piling sites, co-ordinating our activities with our client and the Piling Foreman. Responsible for ensuring quality control on site and communicating safety and production issues to the Senior Contracts Engineer and Operations Director.

• Plan piling projects with assistance from the Senior Contracts Engineer and/or the Operations Director
• Undertake Method Statements and Risk Assessments for piling projects and submit for approval by clients and their engineers
• Organise all plant, labour and materials for piling projects liaising with internal departments (buying, plant etc.) and external departments (concrete etc.)
• Routinely attend a piling handover meeting between design & construction (WHP & Keltbray Piling)
• Co‑ordinate Keltbray Piling activities with other contractors on site taking due consideration of safety, quality and production & cost
• Assist the Piling Contract Engineers in completing daily pile records, ensuring that all relevant material is recorded
• Monitor and record site construction information in electronic format
• Ensure pile construction is in accordance with relevant documentation (Keltbray piling contract, Method Statement, Risk Assessment, Design Specification etc.)
• Provide a weekly report on site safety, quality and progress and complete weekly Cost vs Value Reports for review by the Directors
• Complete a daily diary
• Record any non‑conformances observed on site, ensuring that these are closed out in a timely fashion through discussion with the Piling Contract Engineer
• Record any lessons learned and assist the Piling Directors to ensure that these lessons are distributed across the business

• Undertake site toolbox talks as required
• Take daily photos of site progress and save to the system
• Attend site meetings representing Keltbray Piling interests
• Contribute to the regular updating of safe systems of works and record and review best piling practice
• Communicate any “near miss” health, safety and environmental incident/observations on site and contribute to the recording statistics
• Continual development and review of the piling tools and equipment together with the Operations Director

• At least 3 years’ experience with a piling contractor
• Experience in project management
• Good knowledge of piling construction plant and its limitations
• Ability to complete and present reports
• Ability to record information accurately
• Good communicator in writing, telephone & face to face
• Good knowledge of CFA and Rotary bored piling techniques with a minimum of 3 years piling experience

• Actively working towards incorporated Engineer Status
• Some knowledge of demolition plant and its limitations
• Ability to use Microsoft software packages such as Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint
• Experience in the use of project management software
