Role Overview
As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor you will support the Commercial / Quantity Surveying team in delivering high-value construction projects from pre-contract through to project completion. You will gain valuable hands-on experience across cost planning, procurement, valuation, contractual administration and commercial reporting, working closely with lead surveyors and project teams.
Key Responsibilities
Support preparation of cost plans, estimates, tender documents and bills of quantities.
Assist with procurement activities including subcontractor enquiries, analysis and negotiation.
Monitor project budgets, valuations and financial performance throughout the contract lifecycle.
Prepare interim valuations, variations, cost reports and assist with final accounts.
Attend site visits and liaise with project teams, subcontractors and supply chain as required.
Maintain accurate commercial records and support senior QS colleagues with administrative duties.
The Candidate
Degree or HND/HNC in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline – or working towards qualification.
Some practical exposure to commercial or QS-related tasks (placement year, internship or site experience advantageous).
Strong numerical, analytical and organisational skills.
Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word); knowledge of QS software is a plus.
Full UK driving licence preferred but not essential.
