Project Quantity Surveyor
Contract Type: Permanent, Full time, 35 hours per week
Salary: £47,920 to £53,345 per annum, dependant on experience. Plus essential car user allowance £1,300
Grade: 10
Reporting Office: Manchester, Trafford
Work Model: Agile Worker: 20% – 40% of contractual hours to be worked from reporting office / workplace (hybrid working)

L&Q are looking for a proven Project Quantity Surveyor with extensive Quantity Surveying experience to join the Property Services Commercial team. The role reports to the Managing Quantity Surveyor and may involve up to 3 direct reports.
The Project Quantity Surveyor is responsible for the financial and contractual administration of projects carried out by L&Q, ensuring that general quantity surveying duties are performed to the highest standard, securing full contractual and monetary entitlement in the most advantageous terms, and being accountable for savings on projects. The post holder will take full ownership of the project and work stream to ensure all costs and necessary contracts are in place.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing mitigation strategies for immediate implementation of all matters relating to contract and subcontract for review by Managing Quantity Surveyor or Head of Commercial.
- Managing budgetary constraints using forensic cost‑control techniques.
- Applying strong analytical and numeracy skills with data interrogation.
- Managing principal and subcontractor arrangements.
- Managing poor performance.
- Understanding cost‑value reconciliation for a workstream.
- Demonstrating commercial awareness with good legal / contractual knowledge.
- Using standard methods of measurement and NHF SoR’s.
- Degree or HNC level in a related discipline or equivalent substantial experience.
- Professional qualification as a member of CIOB/RICS is desirable but not essential.
- Excellent communication and analytical skills.
- Confidence in managing subcontractors and suppliers to achieve best value while protecting the business contractually.
- Strong analytical and numeracy capabilities.
