Construction Associate, Program ​/ Project Manager

Cumming Management Group, a Cost and Project Management Consultancy within the construction industry, provides a wide range of services to clients spanning several different sectors.

Location:

Manchester or Stoke‑on‑Trent.

• Integral part of a team responsible for the commercial and contractual performance of various projects
• Provide cost management services through pre‑ and post‑contract processes
• Support clients and the team in client presentations and new works
• Support business objectives by delivering value for money in all circumstances
• Carry out assigned duties efficiently and in accordance with processes and procedures
• Comply with established commercial, procurement and pisinnaolithic strategies
• Take personal responsibility for complying with Environmental, Health, Safety, Security and Quality Standards
• Develop relationships with clients, consultants and contractors
• Draft, advise and execute procurement strategies

• Preparation of indicative cost budgets and appraisals
• Preparation of elemental cost plans
• Provide advice and opinion regarding client development plans and expectations
• Market testing of key elements for developments
• Data analysis on design efficiencies and benchmark comparison
• Preparing and issuing tender documents
• Running tender processes including managing queries from tendering contractors
• Scrutinising and verifying interim payment applications
• Managing change control in accordance with contracts
• Producing cost reports and cost forecasting
• Assisting project managers in preparing early warnings, instructions and compensation events
• Promote commercial awareness throughout project
• Advising and liaising with internal project and cost control team
• Developing commercial strategies

• Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a similar technical discipline
• Strong technical delivery experience
• Experience in hotel and residential projects desirable
• MRICS or working towards Chartered status
• Excellent written and communication skills
• Ability to successfully manage complex projects in a proactive and diligent manner
• Strong cost planning experience
• Experience of providing procurement advice, tender documentation and post‑contract services
• Client facing, ensuring a high standard of delivery
• Previously employed by a consultancy or end‑user client
• A track record of working with teams and managing projects by prioritising workloads and delivering deadlines
