Role Overview
This role provides vital administrative support to the community midwifery service to ensure women are scheduled for their community antenatal and post‑natal appointments at time‑critical intervals. The role involves high volumes of telecommunication and therefore excellent customer service is pivotal to providing high levels of support to our patients.
ResponsibilitiesFlexibility is key as the post holder will be expected when required to provide cross‑cover to the wider services within Maternity during times of need.
The Community Midwives team are seeking a highly motivated and supportive Administrative Assistant to join our busy service. You will work alongside the community midwives, operating within clearly defined policies, procedures, protocols and guidelines, to aid the smooth running of a busy community midwifery service reflecting high quality customer care in all that we do.
Your duties will include scheduling appointments, managing a high volume of telephone calls, providing robust administrative support, and ensuring accurate and timely communication with staff and patients. You must demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills, accurate typing skills, and the ability to multitask, adapt, and develop your skill set to match evolving service requirements.
QualificationsSuccessful candidates must have excellent IT skills and experience working in a customer service or healthcare environment. You should demonstrate a high level of personal commitment to facilitate the delivery of a patient‑focused service.
Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team are essential. A friendly and conscientious outlook is also required, as is the ability to liaise with all levels of staff and patients.
